![]() Stuck with the a900 as I was attached to the 5fps I knew from the a700. Thought I'd be happy until it's successor came about, but the a900 and a850 kept tempting me.īetter viewfinder, more useable resolution for landscape work, better DOF, and what works out to better noise control at higher ISO's due to the added resolution finally broke me down, and I grabbed both an a850 and a900 to play with. Fell in love with it's features and handling and got some great mileage out of it. I started digital with the a100, then graduated to the a700 as soon as it came out. I came from a Minolta film background, so I had some good glass, which led me to Konica-Minolta and then Sony. Not the best at high ISO, not the best (but still good) at sports due to a very average 5fps and just 'ok' focus tracking, but its great for outdoors, landscapes, and tripod work. Bright viewfinder and some good glass options allow for some pretty impressive results. Great low-light focusing with good lenses. The 24mp buys you plenty of room to size down, mellowing out any noise without loosing much detail. Blows away anything you could do with film. Not great, not up to the latest standards now, but. This allows you to correct the focus accuracy of a lens and the camera will remember it every time you attach it. Not all lenses are created equal, and some just need some tweaking. Micro-Adjust memory for lenses that are a little "out of whack". Shadow detail, highlights, all very recoverable if you slip a little in the initial exposure. Jpegs are average, but shoot in RAW and process with Lightroom or similar 3rd party tool and you will be impressed. Can crop a bit more, or just enjoy the bigger prints. I call them every day and email them every day and I have been completely ignored.ĭo not buy this camera, Sony's service department is HORRIBLE!! It is just sitting there, maybe it will fix it self! After numerous correspondences and most with no reply back or they don't know anything yet the camera still sits at the service department. It is still in the shop for the past two weeks. Fourth, return to service department, can't find anything wrong. I'm a happy camper now, whoops, there it goes again. Third, return to service department, they replaced the camera's case. Second return, to service department, replaced the shutter button. Received it back, and it wasn't about 40 shots later that the camera started randomly shooting on its own and then froze. I contacted Sony service department and they said they would take a look at it. It continued randomly shooting on its own thus becoming very annoying, especially when you had that fantastic moment for a terrific photo and the camera would shoot on its own and freeze. I would take the battery out re-install the battery and all would be fine. My camera began shooting randomly on its own and then it would freeze up. That is, until, I got involved with Sony's service department. ![]() The camera has a wonderful feel, takes fantastic photos, I loved it. I did my research and purchased this camera. I am a hobby photographer and was excited when Sony offered a full frame digital camera in the $2,600 range. ![]()
